The battery can also be charged at home without any cables via induction means, and once full it can allow up to 124 miles of driving. The range can further be increased up to 684 miles if the hydrogen tank is full. The fuel cell makes it possible by topping up the battery with more charge whenever it runs low.

 

With its F 015 concept car and a range of other hybrid plug-in vehicles, Mercedes is undeniably among the carmakers on the forefront of supporting the future of green zero emission cars. This is a green move that was announced by the carmaker this month. The German-based company hopes to launch a new series of high-performing gasoline engines with 40-volt systems in 2017. This will likely be among the company’s highly priced cars but that should not worry you if you are a champion of energy conservation and a green environment.

With the 48-volt power system, your Benz will be capable of achieving different functionalities which include brake regeneration, moving the car from stop on the power of electricity alone, electric boost and engine stop-start. These capabilities will be made possible via a belt-driven generator or integrated starter-generator.

 

The 48-volt power systems are already in production for some car manufacturers aiming to manufacture cars with fewer emissions that harm the environment. The new engine volt system utilizes a very powerful charger regulated by a 48-volt system. Such electric superchargers need a lot of energy which can be juiced through batteries within a 48-volts system or a super capacitor.
